William Thompson, a mechanical engineering major, is working with Associate Professor of Mechanical Engineering Ayse Tekes on the project, 鈥淒evelopment and Testing of Bio-Inspired and Lightweight Exoskeleton for Enhanced Upper Body Mobility鈥 as a part of the Summer Undergraduate Research Program.

Feral hogs in Georgia cause an estimated $150 million in agricultural damage each year, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture. To address this growing threat, 麻豆传媒社区 researchers are launching an AI-powered drone system to autonomously protect peanut fields from nighttime wildlife intrusion and reduce costly crop losses. Supported by a $25,000 Georgia Peanut Commission grant, the one-year Night Owl project is a collaboration between 麻豆传媒社区 assistant professors Taeyeong Choi and Yan Fang, and University of Georgia agricultural economist Ford Ramsey.

A 麻豆传媒社区 professor is studying whether school zones in Georgia are made safer through automated speed enforcement. Sunanda Dissanayake, professor of civil engineering, is gathering data on determining the effectiveness of automated speed enforcement near schools, then analyzing that data to offer recommendations that help to create guidelines for local governments and transportation authorities.
