These assessments are conducted by interdisciplinary teams of KSU faculty and students. The studies identify actionable opportunities for cost savings, energy reduction, and waste minimization. Our assessments typically include one-day site visits to industrial facilities for plant tours and data collection. After the visit, the team provides a comprehensive report outlining specific recommendations for enhancing competitiveness.

If manufacturers choose to participate in the U.S. Department of Energy-funded program, these in-depth assessments are offered at no cost to eligible manufacturers—those with annual energy bills between $100,000 and $3.5 million, revenues under $250 million, and located within 150 miles of Â鶹´«Ã½ÉçÇø.

Our Services Include:

  1. Energy baseline assessments (via utility billing analysis)
  2. Identification of Significant Energy Uses (SEUs).
  3. Compressed air leak surveys, thermal waste analysis, and other recommendations for operations and maintenance improvements.
  4. Feasibility studies for replacing major mechanical systems, such as chillers, boilers, rooftop units (RTUs), or compressors.
  5. Evaluations of solar panel installations and combined heat and power (CHP) systems.
  6. Lean manufacturing assessments to identify process inefficiencies and eliminate bottlenecks.
  7. Quantification of decarbonization opportunities.
  8. Feasibility evaluations for automation and smart manufacturing practices.

Energy Efficiency Outcomes

The table below summarizes the energy efficiency outcomes from over 30 industrial energy audits conducted by the ITAC team (as of Q4 2024). The overall average recommended energy efficiency savings are $50,917, representing 5.1% of the manufacturers’ annual energy costs.
