Technology Innovation Activities (TIAs)

NEW TIAs COMING SOON! Check here for updates in October 2025.

Technology is a critical component of teaching and learning in today鈥檚 K-12 classrooms. Educators need a toolbox of tech-based experiences and an innovation mindset to foster curiosity and confidence in their students. Tech-based knowledge and skills grow as students use the tools and are given permission to explore various purposes and connections. Developing an innovator鈥檚 mindset empowers independent learning and unleashes talent, leading to a culture of creativity and experimentation in schools. The TIAs listed here are intended to introduce future teachers to some popular classroom kits and build their own confidence for integrating technology into their lesson plans.

TRAC will provide the materials and instructions needed to help Education students complete simple activities that demonstrate coding, electronics, circuitry, robotics, problem-solving, and 3D design and printing. These fundamental STEM concepts, often discovered through play-based learning, can be integrated into various core classes such as math, language arts, social studies, science, music, and art.

Opportunities in TRAC will include Makey Makey, Sphero Bolt, littleBits, Glowforge laser printing, and MakerBot Method 3D printing. Other activities may be introduced throughout the semester. TRAC is open to your suggestions! Students may participate in TIAs independently or as part of a class assignment.

For more information and to set up a TIA opportunity for individuals or classes, faculty and students may contact Kellie Hebblethwaite at 470-578-6420 or khebblet@kennesaw.edu.
